How long? – 256

How long must the dead die young?
How long must the children weep in desperation and
How long will the man reap from our crops?
We’re the soul and embodiment of this place.
The only power that is given,
The only power that ever stays.
The people, the power, the price we pay.
To live in ignorance every day.
How long must they sing this song,
The tantalizing diatribe that blinds us
To the monotonous treacherous undertones
That plague the human heart.
How long must we stand here
Knowing we can play apart,
Before we do?
