Day 172 (The Hardest Part)

The hardest part of finding order
Is when everything falls apart.
And you begin to realize the hardest lie
Is the way that you live your life.
Look at yourself in the mirror.
Do you like what you see?
Maybe there’s something else going on
Behind those eyes that I can’t read.
But, I’m as sure as hell you know what I mean.
The hardest part of living
Is finding a way to admit you’re wrong
Telling yourself that you aren’t perfect,
And that you can’t always get what you want.
Then telling yourself that you don’t care,
And you’ll trudge on anyway,
In spite of all the upsetting mistakes,
The collapses of will,
All the doors slammed shut,
And all the pieces of yourself you’ll have to pick up.
And the hardest part is realizing that you don’t,
That you can’t know what makes the world tick.
And there is no point obsessing over where life ends
And where it begins,
Or who’s holding a place on a big white throne,
You’ve got to live good,
Or die hard,
And that’s the hardest part.

  1. So much reflecting on life, dear young man. Poetry is stronger now. Nice work. Love the new look, too.

I’m glad to hear that you’re noticing progress, thanks for sticking along for the ride. 🙂 And thanks for the compliments on the change of the blog. I felt it was in need for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
